I was a student leader of the CyberPatriot Cyber Camp held at Olathe Northwest high school during the summer of 2017. I gained experience in public speaking by teaching 40 high school students about the fundamentals of Cyber Security: Article Link. Also, I am student leader of the CyberPatriot program at Olathe Northwest High School, where I teach basic computer, and network security.
During CyberPatriot competition season X, My team (look at the certificate above) placed in the semi-finals, and top 3rd in state. This was a major leap from season IX, as we didn't even place 3rd in state last year.
After CyberPatriot competition season X, I was working on developing basic pentesting (ethical hacking) skills. So, I went to the VulnHub website and downloaded a vulnerable, Ubuntu virtual machine. Then I began trying to gain unauthorized access to the machine by using the Kali pentesting arsenal. After about three weeks of relentless trial and error, I was finally able to gain access to the machine by exploiting a backdoor vulnerability of an outdated version of ProFTP. The picture above is the proof that I was able to gain access to the machine, and create a user.
During the first semester of my senior year I did a physics project with one of my classmates. And in the video you can see it is about the resonance phenomena, I enjoyed this project very much. It was very intriguing learning how one object might vibrate, forcing a second object into vibrational motion.
I plan on pursuing this career by starting my college career at Johnson County Community College, and getting my associates in Computer Information Systems. This degree covers programming, basic network security, all operating systems, and hardware components of computers and server systems. After Johnson County Community College, I plan on transferring into KU's computer science program with a focus on cyber security, eventually leading to a masters degree in a specific area of cyber security.
