Meet the Soviet Leadership
For the better part of the 20th century, the Soviet Union stood as the singular obstacle to American world domination. We Americans learn all about Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday to JFK and Nixon's less-than spotless record, but what about the guys on the other side of the Iron Curtain? This book reaches out to people with no interest/knowledge of the Soviet leadership and introduces these powerful (and sometimes hilarious) men in an intelligent, approachable, and slightly unconventional way.
The process began with hours of research to amass the content. It was then rewritten to fit the desired tone. Finally, the book was hand-bound, with assistance from the ever-patient Joe Dicey, Carnegie Mellon's resident book binding guru.
It won Best in Show at Context 2009, AIGA Pittsburgh's annual design show.
