First in a series of 3d portraits. This is my spin on a Tim Burton-esque style of Tim Burton. I'll just be trying to capture a cartoony essence of each person in this series. All done in Blender with some post adjusting in Affinity Photo. I love the painterly feel of this, especially the glasses with the combination of the texture painting below and the refraction settings of the glass material. Click for full size. All of the painting work is done Blenders texture paint mode, a true combination of 2d and 3d. Here I am using the excellent bpainter addon which extends Blenders normal texture paint features into a photoshop type of workflow. Areas painted are the face mesh and backdrop. The right hand side is the UI preview render so you don't have to actually render to see how it's looking as you work. The hair is Blenders particle hair system, I love the messy-ness I got with it on this, not going for realism here folks ;-)
Screenshot of the render in progress in Blender. As you can see if you compare this to the first image, the render is pretty complete right out of Blender. I just added some contrast, brightness and a bit of red to the image adjustment overall.
An earlier wip clay render. Smile Tim!

Thanks for scrolling ;-)
