Jells Park, Wheelers Hill, Victoria

Taken on a walk around Jells park in Wheelers Hill , Victoria.

The lesson to be learnt from this walk was to pay more attention to what you are doing, and to turn off the power to the battery grip while you are walking through bush. Apparently parts of my (big) hand rub against the controls on the grip that adjust aperture and shutter speed. On this walk there were a few disasters of exposure that nobody will ever see.
The first time I have seen King Parrots outside a zoo or nature park. This appears to be a nesting pair. As beautifully coloured as many of Australia's parrots seem to be.

Another first, the Powerful Owl. Three of them were perched in a tree close to the walking track we were on.
Amazing looking birds, please note the talons. They sat quietly in the tree apparently unconcerned with our presence. We were only 3 metres from them. An amazing experience.
The first image is of a dragonfly on the wall of a bird hide at the start of our walk.

The second image is a Superb Fairywren. They appear to be quite numerous, in this park, and can be heard calling from the bushes lining the walk. They are small and fast and difficult to lay glass on. The wonderful Australian sun shining hotly from a clear blue sky created havoc with the contrast in the images.
Almost forgot this one, The Laughing Kookaburra.
