CMAT 357: Principles of Design
This is one of four book club posters our class had to create between midterms and the end of the semester. We chose four books and had to design posters for them using the type and image relationships separation, fusion, fragmentation, and inversion. The original poster required at minimum an image, the name of the book, and a three-month reading list. I revised this assignment by turning the poster into a mock branding seminar that would be hosted by the authors of the book. Along with the poster I also created name tags that would be given out at this fictional event.

This poster is for The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding by Al & Laura Ries. I chose this book because the teacher for this class recommended it in a previous class. 

This poster uses inversion, in which the type and image fuse by exchanging roles. My idea for this poster was to just keep it clean and simple like branding today. I used Illustrator's transparency to put text within the 22. The gradient mimics similar gradients I've seen used in major branding campaigns such as Apple Music and Instagram.
