The Fresh Eyes Cuba project was a 14-week intensive studio course, organized around a 10-day immersive trip to Havana, Cuba, the core cultural experience which informed the design briefs and outcomes of the studio.
This book documents the work and exhibitions that were conducted in Havana, Cuba, as well as Pasadena, California, in the Fall of 2016.
This book was designed under the supervision of Tracey Shiffman for DesignMatters at ArtCenter College of Design.
The banner—and enlarged original photo taken by Karlo Fransisco—is displayed at the Fresh Eyes Cuba exhibition. It is then cut into squares and utilized as the cover to make each book unique.
In June of 2017, two students and I were selected as the ambassadors of the Fresh Eyes Cuba project to present the publication at the Ludwig Foundation in Cuba.
