Park City Winery —

School project collaboration between myself and Matt Myers at the University of Utah under the guidance of Jorg Rugemer. The conceptual winery is situated on top of a small hill overlooking the base of main Street Park city, Utah. A cavernous wine tasting room removes one from the world, the excitement above, and breaks down the sensory inputs into basic visceral bites. Textured concrete walls, rows of wooden barrels and a rough earth floor clues one into these immediate surrounding. After tasting a few glasses of wine this space becomes a dark fantasy land. Light comes from above from elemental fixtures and punched openings in the roof. As one moves through the choreographed series of spaces the journey comes to an end at final tasting room. The grand vaulted space that looks back into the slopes of Park City.

This project explored simple forms and a the kind of circulation that could inform or be informed by the simple gabled geometries. The material palette consisted of primarily elemental materials, concrete, corten gabian retainging walls, corten weathered steel. The palette was to enhance the raw and beautiful nature of the site and the depth of the winery program.
