Bond Collective, which is a company that owns a handful of coworking spaces in New York City, builds collaborative environments and provides affordable alternatives for today’s small businesses. With four locations around the city (Gowanus, 55 Broadway, 60 Broad, and Flatiron), Bond Collective offers 24/7 coworking spaces, private offices, conference rooms, and more to creative and entrepreneurial professionals. In addition to these coworking spaces, Bond Collective also owns an event venue extension known as the Mezzanine.
Located at 55 Broadway, the Mezzanine is the newest, most stylish event venue in New York City’s Financial District. Opened in October 2016. The event space has over 6,300 square feet and 5 rooms that can host a plethora of events ranging from cocktail receptions to corporate events. With versatile breakout spaces, sleek bleacher-style seating, designer lounge furniture, a state-of-the-art open kitchen, and surround-sound audio, anyone who attends an event at the Mezzanine will have unforgettable experience. In fact, I’ve definitely had an unforgettable experience designing the space with my amazing team from Upbeat Designs.
“Upbeat Upholstery and Design has been an absolute pleasure to work with, and their knowledge of upholstery and millwork is incredibly thorough,” said the Bond Collective Design Team. “Their opinions and advice have been a lifesaver. They are responsive, helpful, and they have an eye for details—something that is unique in this industry. The Upbeat team makes this process easy and, dare I say it, fun!”
We had fun designing the space, as well! Here are some highlights about the Mezzanine design that I’m particularly fond of.
Relaxed Earth Tones
The entirety of the space is decorated in rich shades of teals found in the upholstery, as well as brown earth tones found in accents of wooden cladding from the bar area and the stage. The floors are decorated in shades of tans, browns, and grays, white walls brighten the room. Pops of green can be seen throughout the space with various types of fauna to add a subtle accent of the outdoors in. Even better -- the walls behind the bar area provides a dream-like interpretation of a cloudy evening sky.
An Industrial Chic Setting
The interior of the Mezzanine can be described as “industrial chic with a contemporary edge.” The design offers beauty in its contemporary design of modern seating, furniture, lighting fixtures, and floor to ceiling glass windows, yet also offers a utilitarian feel with its exposed ceilings and metalwork. In addition, those floor-to-ceiling windows offer an authentic industrial view of the city around you!
Unique Lighting
The Mezzanine’s tiered chandeliers are juxtaposed to the exposed pipes and air vents in the ceiling. Not only that, but the glass orb-like light fixtures hanging at various lengths will leave its admirer to ponder the beauty of the lighting, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere.
My team and I had a lot of fun working on the space for the Mezzanine. Keep checking my blog for more client spotlights and examples of our work!
