TYPE EXPERIMENTS (Student Project)
OBJECTIVE_
Choose a song and make a poster for it. Work with a projector and its projection of different materials to create the images that will be used on the poster. Research the emotion, metaphor, and visuals that are associated with the song. Compose these materials in a conceptual and personal context. The goal is to pull designers out of their comfort and zone and give them confidence to generate the imagery creatively.
APPROACH_
The song that I chose was “Midnight” by Coldplay. The lyrics repeat “Leave a light, a light on.” When I listened to this song, there is a feeling of being lost in the dark. I broke some parts of the type into flying fragments to invoke a feeling of being lost. I also used black as a background, visualized my feelings, and experimented with multiple visuals to enhance being lost.
