Snapchat GeoFilter
Creating Geo Filters was the task for this project and a task it was. We were to come up with designs for geo-filters via snapchat for specific places of our choice. Provided the template, we went to work with designing our own creations. Since most of us use snapchat we assumed this would be fairly easy since we had a feel of what to do, but it wasn't as easy as we thought.
Coming up with idea was the fun part. However, it was labor intensive. Using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop I created three filters that reflected home in a sense. The first was Jade's Lounge which is imaginary restaurant I own. I love my brain and all the dreams that lie within. The second is the Mission Art filter related to the Mission Artist who create all types of work that represent amazingness. The third is for Osceola, the town where I attended school. All three represent places or subjects dear to me.
After sketching the images, I used the pen tool to create them. With the exception of the Osceola filter, the other two were super labor intensive. When creating the Osceola filter I felt is was fine to use an existing typeface, outline it, and roll with it. The other two, I took pictures of the sketches and went with it. It was a journey.
With this project I learned how to use the tools more efficiently. I learned how to expand on ideas even more. I felt it was necessary to keep them simple since that's something I've been trying to learn how to do all semester and it's something I talk about in my reflections. I also learned how to use mockups and that those can be labor intensive as well.
