The goal was to create two paintings, one from an artist you like, and create a painting they have yet to make. And then make another painting that you would never make (I know it is impossible to do that but I chose everything I do not like to do).
I chose Dona Nelson and decided to take her phantom stretcher bars and emphasize them. I wanted to know what would happen if the stretcher bars started to take over. I also  made a two sided painting and need to find a way to display it in a way that shows both sides.
This was the painting I would never make. I painted on panel, only with oil and linseed oil, I worked from a photo, I sketched before I started to paint, and then while painting I tried to keep it as thin as possible. These are all things I normally do not do, but in the end I would definitely try to do this again because it was extremely frustrating.
