BARONA REZIDENCE | ROOF PROPOSAL NR.2
In the centre of Riga, at the crossroads of Krišjāņa Barona and Dzirnavu Street, there is a renovated historical Art Nouveau building Barona Rezidence.
The house at 24/26 Krišjāņa Barona Street was built in 1910 and its designer is the famous Latvian architect Jānis Alksnis, who is credited with creating designs for around 130 multi-storey stone houses in Riga. The architecture of Jānis Alksnis is closely linked to the vertical Art Nouveau of Riga, but the stylistics of this building was also influenced by the national romanticism, prominent at that time.
Barona Residence is located in one of the most sought-after places in the centre of Riga, near the Old Town and the beautiful parks of Riga, such as Vērmanes Garden, Esplanāde and City Canal greenery. The area’s restaurants, entertainment and shopping centres offer the best leisure experience in Riga. Educational institutions, including good kindergartens and schools, prestigious grammar schools and leading state universities are situated a few steps away. Moreover, the centre of Riga offers excellent opportunities to enjoy cultural life: the National Opera, theaters, museums, exhibition galleries and concert halls are all within short walking distance.
