Pé Sujo, was a logo commissioned by a small wine maker in Northern Portugal, in the Trás-os-Montes region.
Being only a small production for the family own consumption, the grapes were picked and crushed with the feet on site as it was done traditionally many years ago.
The logo had to be true to the traditional and homemade nature of the product.
Pé Sujo translates as ‘Dirty foot’ and is a parody to the way the wine was crushed.
I started by sketching feet using a single line technique that represents the simplicity of this wine making process.
The stain on the foot expresses quite obviously the meaning of the name and the grape crushing method.
Finally the name font takes us back again to the basic and fun nature of the product, almost as if one of the family members had signed it.
After successfully creating the logo, the client requested a creation of the wine bottle labels which will be printed and pasted onto the bottles to give out to family and friends on Christmas.
