For this project I started off with a ball of wedged clay, I then formed it into a smooth surface like I had on my sketch. I cut the edges and waited it to be leather hard. Once leather hard I added the feet and painted it using underglaze. Once I painted it with underglaze I scratched with a sharp tool and created a pattern like my sketch. Once all the steps were completed I fired it and gave it away for my donation piece.
My inspiration of creating this piece is because of the cool designs Mayan's used on their sculpture. One thing I liked about my piece is how the under glaze stayed in in one spot instead of gloss glaze which droops and makes a mess after its been fired. One thing I didn’t like about my piece is how sloppy it is I felt like I could have made a better piece. I wish I could have kept it and used another piece as my donation piece, but my other projects were not done fired so I had to use the sgraffito project. But overall it was a fun experience and I enjoyed the project.
