This project was for my fall 2016 type and design class. For this project we chose something that was health related and created a set of stamps based on that theme. Obviously, I chose fruit for mine. I was nervous for this project since it would be my first time using Illustrator in over 4 years.
The design process started by sketching 40 stamp sets for each of the design principles, resulting in over 200 sketches once completed. Each class we came in with a new set to be critiqued by peers. From those we chose 10 to do in color, narrowed down to 3 that would be sketched on larger sets with more detail, then traced with the pen tool in Illustrator.
After critiques, we chose one concept to move forward with and had to create 6 iterations of that. For this set, I played a lot with color and working outside of my normal graphic design comfort level. As you can see above, my final project was a combination of elements from several iterations. This project taught me how to think outside of the box and that doing things differently than you might normally can have a positive result.
