Hamilton Logo Embroidery

I created this project for the #hamiltoncraftswap on Instagram. This was an online craft swap themed around the hit Broadway musical, Hamilton. I drew inspiration from a similar project that I saw on my partner's inspiration mosaic. I used an 8" hoop with white 14 aida, and DMC threads.

I started out by printing out the Hamilton logo the size that I wanted it and cutting out the silhouette. I then used a water soluble marker to trace the logo onto the aida fabric. Next I came up with a template for all 26 letters so that I would know exactly how to stitch each letter as I went along. I started off trying to incorporate a single quote from each song of the show as I made my way from top to bottom, but quickly realized I would not fit them all. Around halfway down, I started skipping to only the most important moments. My original plan also involved filling in the logo with black stitched words, but due to time constraints, I chose to leave the logo blank. I actually ended up like this a lot better than the original design because I think it makes the logo stand out more, and makes the entire project look cleaner.

The logo is crafted and molded out the lyrics from the show, much like Hamilton's life was crafted and molded from his words and writings. I love the way this project turned out! It's one of my favorite things that I've created.
