Taylor Alexander's profile

McLaren GT3, Zurich GT Sport

McLaren is business as-usual in the motorsport, competition world, a self-described, perfection-based organization that sometimes extends into ill-performance and unethical territory.  Now an international powerhouse for design and sensible performance, McLaren has gained attention outside of its bordered shell of tightly closed doors and over-fluffed Formula 1 marketing campaigns of past and the constant McLaren, what, who, it's a car? Senna? Who? What?
McLaren's competition focused GT3 offering is the ultimate pleasure escape for gentlemen drivers that are tired of routine everyday business affairs and stereo archetypes.  They are not here to show-off, gain fame, reputation, nor any monetary benefits of any kind.  The experience to thrive on a circuit to express oneself through sport and design with fellow, like-minded individuals is enough.

Taking this personal reflection of myself as a competitor, I applied an Italian-French design to a rather sterile British design entry.  This livery is casual sport, casual business, casual sex appeal.  This is afternoon shopping in superbly odd or fun attire out in fine Southern Californian weather.

As motorsport and competition find more understanding in mass market appeal, this trend will continue heavily away from the misunderstood origins of having to always win, to participate with blind courage, or attempt a naive grip for fame and glory.  Gone will be the overdramatic and quite frankly, childish understanding of motorsport as a dangerous and unnecessary activity that men of style participate in for no apparent reason other than to be themselves as rebels.  It's a false archetype that is hindering the automotive and competition segment.

This is the reality of racing, it is FUN - SEXY - INNOVATIVE, and at the end of the day, a fantastic business venture that is more or less a casual, and must-have expressionism activity for those that understand the core values of such pursuits.

This design was heavily influenced by contemporary French design archetypes located throughout the automotive and sporting landscape.  It drips a glossy piano black oozing sophistication, and the body is accented by a rich French Blue.

There is an Italian appeal to passion and sex appeal with the extra large Michelin men running over the front fenders and BRIGHT dayglo pink taking notice to fellow competitors.
