Mirrors
she looked up with eyes so innocent and pure, a rare soul birthed into a world she did not understand, she looked unto me and suddenly without saying a word, she asked a question I had no answer to, as one single tear ran down her plump rosy cheek, I raised my hand and looked equal to her, so gently the words formed from my mouth, don’t give up for you are our future, carry the spirit of joy within you and bring places of darkness into light, as we stared at each other for a moments time, her into me and I into her, I realized in a split of a second the harsh reality of the world we lived in, the good and the bad, the balance of life that will never be without the other and within that precise thought, I saw my reflection a mirror projection of what was my innocence in this young child and then myself who she looked to for guidance, a split image of life itself…..
