I was commissioned to paint a mural at St Marks Community Education Center reflecting the immigrant experience in Dorchester.
I interviewed eleven of the Community Center's students to find out about their lives, experiences, passions, struggles, fears, and biggest goals.
After six months of work conducting interviews, ordering materials, hiring contractors to create custom stretchers, and painting the actual mural, "We, too, are America" was finished. The mural's title pays homage to Langston Hughe's poem:
