CREO - geometric typeface stamping device
Creo
my most recent project is called CREO.

Coming from graphic design background, Im always in a search of any methods in creating imagery, from traditional to the most advanced. When I was in kindergarten, I remember how my teacher used to teach me how to make stamp using carved potato. We would create stars, heart shapes and making colourful collages. I never forget how much fun I had during that time. Given the opportunity to create a small object in my rapid prototyping course, I stumbled into the idea of creating a stamp.

CREO is a customizable stamping device that could generate geometric letterforms. The word creo itself came from a Latin word that means to create. My intention within this project is to encourage people to play, experiment and express themselves through letterforms. I am drawn to combination of basic geometric forms due to its simplicity and effectiveness. Creo allows people to explore basic shapes, deconstruct and rebuild their own anatomy of letterforms to communicate. A conventional stamp is designed to create one identical mark for repetitive use, but creo has transformable head that could be modified anytime according to our own preferences. Creo comes in a wooden package complete with one stamp holder and a set of little stamp heads. Upon creating a letterform, one would choose the desired geometric form of the stamp head, arrange them and insert them to the stamp holder. Creo will work with block printing ink or just regular ink on stamp pads. Versatility and creative quality of creo makes it unique and fun to play with. Happy stamping!
