We know that the only permanent thing in this world is change.Our country, which is

deeply rooted in tradition & religious beliefs,is undergoing transition and change,too.

Hence,there is a need to transform the present cremation spaces where there is an

atmosphere of darkness and negativity. This will help the bereaved families in their

moment of grief.

RENESA ARCHITECTURE DESIGN INTERIORS STUDIO's Studio Head Architect Sanchit  Arora formed a design collaboration with a NGO called Inclusive Foundation registered under the Societies Act to come together to portray innovative thoughts for a better society.

Electric cremation came up as an alternate to traditional funeral pyre cremation. The

two main drawbacks of the traditional method of cremation are air pollution and

deforestation. However, the electric facility has not got its due space in the

cremation grounds.

RENESA STUDIO along with the Inclusive Foundation aims to redesign & redevelop the electric cremation facility at the Green Park Cremation ground using modern design and technology. The first step would be to convert the electric system to a gas based system (preferably CNG). The second step would be to redevelop the essential services like drinking water, toilets and sitting area. This shall provide a comfortable surrounding for the family of the deceased.

Since the Electric Crematorium system at Green Park has been non-functional for

many years, its re-development and upgradation would help reduce the load on the

Lodhi crematorium.

RENESA ARCHITECTURE DESIGN INTERIORS STUDIO's Studio Head Architect,Mr. Sanchit Arora's research paper was centered around the 'Spaces of Cremation'-The Shadow Spaces, which coincidentally pertains to the Green Park Crematorium. The Crematorium is one project where he believes a huge difference can be brought about through an architectural intervention.

After a lot of research and information collection , Sanchit Arora had produced his approach to the Green Park Crematorium,New Delhi,India.

Electric cremation systems, which were created, as an alternate to traditional cremation, have not got due visibility in the existing cremation grounds. High costs of operation are a major factor for its low utilization.  RENESA STUDIO's effort would be to architecturally restore and redevelop the existing Electric cremation facility at the Green Park Cremation Ground and convert into a CNG/LPG gas run system. 

Since the Electric Crematorium system at Green Park has been non-functional for many years, its re-development and up gradation would also help reduce the load on the current throughput at the Lodhi Crematorium.
