Hyelight is an action platformer game created as a testbed for my Master thesis: "The TDDA process, an adaptive difficulty system that enhances player enjoyment during gameplay"​​​​​​​

Character Concepts
These are the initial character design concepts for the two types of enemies the player can encounter in the first level, followed by the two versions (high and low polygon) of the main character, Sin
High fidelity character model
Even though a high fidelity model was created, the pre-alpha version of the game contains the placeholder art for all the creatures. The reason behind this is our need for an experienced animator.
Game Stills
Even from the early production phases of the game design process, we have decided that the player should stroll in a sky city among the clouds. The hero's journey starts from the map's lowest and darkest point, passes through a small village and concludes in a grand golden temple bathed in golden sunlight.  
The way to the temple is paved with Torii, each marking a new challenge area
The player has an array of abilities with which she can overcome the challenges presented
