Black and Decker Advertising
This advertisement aims to communicate the idea that the new Black and Decker 3000w Blower Vac is better than any conventional way of getting rid of leaves and that it blows any competition out of the water.
This advertisement has several levels of meaning. The first is that by stating "It sucks!" and "It blows!" the customers exclaim that the product is actually doing what it said it would, implying that the customer is satisfied with their purchase. The second level implies that by saying the product both "sucks" and "blows" implies an insult towards the product, but even by insulting the product, it still states the fact that the product works as it is supposed to, keeping the customer satisfied. The last level implies a sexual innuendo, which may appeal to a certain target market.
The last advertisement is a play on the fairytale of The Three Little Pigs, where the wolf has to blow down their houses. The wolf in the fairytale uses a well known phrase, "I will huff and I will puff until I blow your house down!" before he attempts to blow their houses down. This advertisement implies that if the wolf had the Black and Decker 3000W Blower Vac, he wouldn't have to expend so much energy trying to blow down the three Pigs's houses.
