PLAY highlights the intimacy between sex toys and their owner (or owners). As a queer woman from the UK, HAИ noticed that the manner in which sex toys were being advertised and packaged seemed outdated and lacking in effortful design. As tools of pleasure HAИ felt that the presentation sex toys were given was lacklustre and inconsiderate. Sex toys, especially for LGBTQ+ people, are sexual enhancers that can help with gender euphoria, sexual understanding, personal exploration and self-love. So why keep them in seedy, underground shops with packaging that hasn’t seen an upgrade in twenty years?

Taking inspiration from advertisements of the latest phones, laptops and gadgets, HAИ looks into the relationship between human and machine. Your mobile phone will know how long you spend on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter whereas your spouse does not. The connection we have with machines is more intimate than ever, your personal vibrator may make you orgasm better than your partner can. With this in mind, HAИ invites you to celebrate sex toys and give them the same respect as the common laptop.
