Broadcast Branding Toolkit
Seth MacFarlane is a huge sci-go fan so it was exciting to work on the broadcast marketing for this project. Set 400 years in the future, it follows The Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of everyday life. We set our to make the design something bright and fun as well as making it always feel like it's in motion. There was loose reference to recruitment posters and Cold War Era Russian Cosmonaut propaganda design that we molded into a more specific color story, matching the color palette to the colors of the different uniforms worn by the crew. The logo design came from Production, which we in turn modeled and textured in 3D. The designs were templatized and a toolkit was made to create a turn key solution for promotional spots for broadcast and digital.
