The Geek Group is a non profit organization in Grand Rapids, MI that has the goal of becoming an educational maker-space. The organization itself has a good message and purpose that they want to provide to the community. However, its continuing struggle has been connecting to its target audiences within the local community.
Upon applying as a volunteer advertising designer, I had the pleasure of coming up with an advertising campaign that would assist in both connecting the community to the Geek Group but also showcasing what services (spaces i.e. a wood shop, mechanics garage, 3D printers, etc) they offer. The challenges were to remain within a conservative budget for advertising while still creating quality advertisements that would exist in multiple spaces.
