The Easter Parade on Fifth Avenue, immortalized by Judy Garland and Fred Astaire in the 1948 musical film, has been a New York tradition since the mid-1800's. What began as an after-church event for the well-to-do, most of the parade's participants today have an anything-goes attitude.
