For an assignment in my Raster II class, we were given the prompt of creating a digital painting with a pirate theme. This was my first attempt at digital painting from scratch and, wanting to put a bit of a spin on it, I decided to design a themed character specifically for this.

Due to time constraints, I wasn't able to get too in depth with conceptualizing; this was very on-the-spot. I went with a Polynesian fish/merperson and used other ocean-themed aspects like the seashell eyepatch and fishbone bandana to accent the design. After this, I immediately jumped into the actual project, which you can see the progress of below.
