After being assigned a random cultural figure, we were asked to design a monogram befitting the person and create a business card for them. I was given Rainer Maria Rilke, a German poet, whose work is very elegant and atmospheric. I decided to create a simple monogram influenced by Rainer's time in Paris and his German roots. In the business card, I chose to keep my final design muted, leaving his work would speak for himself. 

In my process, I went through many iterations of different business card designs, a few of which are pictured below. I worked to balance a loud statement with Rainer's personality and poetry.
