Nomi Liquor & Sake
Nomi is a New Zealand based alcohol store that stocks an abundance of alcohol, ranging from beer to cider, but a unique point of difference that the liquor stores sells is a full range of Japanese sake. Nomi is the meeting ground of Japanese alcohol and New Zealanders. Nomi creates a beautiful, unique combination of two cultures into one, where the base idea is to not only to educate but excite New Zealanders about sake.
I was tasked with creating a distinctive and diverse brand identity, I established a logo that represents a free thinking, new age ideology. This sets up the atmosphere that then encompasses the brand as a whole, creating an upmarket vibe that intrigues consumers to want to visit the store. A key task that I was assigned was to design branding which portrayed the cross over of two different cultures into one concise and cohesive theme.
I chose to design a range of physical outcomes which represented the brands ideology. These outcomes were used to portray different aspects of the atmosphere that the Nomi store wanted to establish. The outcomes
such as the light box and window vinyl were used to construct a store front that represented an enjoyable and inviting environment that the consumer wanted a part of. In comparison the mural is used in store to create an arty impression, and the glasses used as part of a sake tasting area. Using the ironic take on the standard New Zealand black plastic bag that is so synonymous with the purchase of alcohol, I decided to take one step further and design brown paper bags that formed a feeling of nostalgia rather than mediocracy. Overall, forming complete and united attributes that consumers can fully immerse themselves into.
