Various ceramic pieces of mine
The tiny cracks throughout most of these are a result of the technique, Raku firing. The pieces are removed from the kiln at their maximum temperature, often glowing orange. The pieces are cooled rapidly and smoked in a barrel with newspaper. This combined with the use of Raku glazes results in the crazing or crackle effect. The whole process is quite the spectacle and you never what the results will be.
