The Mist (2007) | Illustration Poster

This project that began in early November was based around the idea of designing a poster for the 2007 science-fiction horror movie The Mist by the way of using a simple and minimalistic visual style, with the inclusion of various effects and textures to create a more darker and unsettling look.

The main narrative of the poster is somewhat based on the official poster, but instead focuses around the “partial appearance” of one of the many creatures that are seen within the movie, as well as the barley visible car park just outside of the convenience store where the movie takes place.

For the display mockup, I decided to place the final outcome against a grey grainy-like backdrop that provides a less upbeat setting for the poster itself, considering the fact that the poster is communicating a variety of themes that include fear, suspense, loneliness, and even isolation. This of course being the right decision, seeing as these emotions are felt by the characters, given the situation they are in.
