Insite product design

Overview

Rental housing in New Zealand is in worse condition than owner-occupied housing over a range of indicators, including heating, insulation, safety, moisture, and interior fittings. To help tackle this problem I designed Insite.

Insite is a concept for a product that makes it easy for tenants and landlords to both contribute to a better maintained property, and therefore better & more comfortable conditions in the house.

For landlords, it measures conditions inside the rental home and reports on + analyses the data to say exactly where and how maintenance needs to happen to keep the property in top condition. For tenants, it makes it easy to report maintenance issues so they can more quickly be solved.
Data Tracking

Insite would use sensors in the rental property to track conditions inside, including temperature, humidity, and airflow.

Maintenance recommendations

The data is then analysed to provide tailored recommendations on property maintenance, to both the landlord and the tenant respectively. Insite facilitates maintenance by clearly and visually outlining the benefits of each maintenance solution to the user.
Issue Notification

The tenant can easily report maintenance issues to the landlord with Insite, and the landlord is instantly notified. The system facilitates the solving of the maintenance issue for the landlord, streamlining the process to ensure things get fixed quickly and efficiently.
