Brushwork
Pure creativity - original paintings
After leaving fine art behind for a period post-education, I took myself back to art school via the lessons of the French impressionists and Cubist movement. Many of the works were at a larger scale than I had previously been comfortable with, and I consciously put aside realism, perspective and composition for the purpose of developing another side to my brushwork. Much of the subject matter came from sketches or photographs from travels in Southern France and other more abstract sources. Cezanne, Picasso and Hundertwasser were particular artistic influences, along with music from Coltrane, Beefheart and Royal Trux and the films of Cronenburg and Gilliam.
