I painted a portrait using acrylic paint of the poet Maya Angelou. I contrasted the cool colored background with the warm colored face. I also emphasized shine in the lips using white to show the reflection.There is texture in the background, which I made by finger-painting. There is line in the background for swirl marks with the light blue and plum paint. I found this photo online. I chose Maya Angelou because I wrote a paper on her in eighth grade. Her poems and quotes are so inspiring and insightful.
