A Aldeia adormece

Graphic Design

Talasnal, year of 1911. Terror reigns among the nearly 130 inhabitants of this Village in Serra da Lousã.

Each and every morning, there is a dead victim stretched out on the tiles of the threshing-floor, with a twisted neck and bloody body. They say that famished Wolves are on the loose in the mountains, but no one knows for sure.

It becomes imperative that the Villagers come together to end this threat, before the Village loses all its occupants.

"A Aldeia adormece" ("It's night time") is an object that intends to materialize a series of tributes:

1. First and foremost, to the original game "The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow" (2001), elaborated by Philippe des Pallières and Hervé Marly;
2. To the Schist Villages, particularly the Talasnal Village;
3. To board games and how exciting it is to acquire and play them;
4. To people, friendship, get-togethers, and the memories which are intrinsically related to objects and people;
5. To the collaborative work, where creatives from different areas come together with a common purpose, highly honored here;
6. And finally, to the creation of mesmerizing artefacts that exalt production as an end in itself and the physicality of objects as a rich feature of infinite possibilities.

My greatest thanks to every single person who made this project a reality:
to the illustrators who created such great interpretations of the characters and
had so much patience to deal with all the requests; to Álvaro Martino, Carlos Meinedo,
Diogo Ferreira, João Neves, and Nuno Leites who were always there, surprising me all
the time with their creative vision and effort to get such great photos, videos and soundtrack;
to Agostinho Ferreira, Felicidade Cunha, Manuel Moreira, Maria Ferreira, Orlando Teixeira,
and Tiago Pereira for their availability and technical support; many thanks to every single
one of you who spent a little of your time to contribute with your help or, at least,
an opinion about the game's rules, website, wooden box, and so on.
Finally, thanks to all of you who came to the launching event and played with us.

Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.
