Making a Classic Car Postcard

Triumph Spitfire Vintage Postcard
I looked at old Triumph Spitfire ads to get an idea of the colour palette  and scenary etc.
My dad in his brown Triumph Spitfire.
Next came the part I'm not great at, sketching a layout. I figured putting the car on a patch of grass in front of the White Cliffs of Dover would make quite a good and exciting setting.
Time to digitise. Using cutom shapes i created the basic, flat scene.
The fun part, getting messy! I created a bunch of textures using ink and acrylic paint printed onto paper using a variety of objects such as carrier bags, sponges and tree bark.
I then finally scanned them to my computer and i turned them into TIFF files with photoshop.
Using the textures in the illustration. The textures helped make the piece more realistic and by using gradients and overlay blends, i added depth to the previously flat illustration.
