Ukraine is a multiethnic country, honoring the traditions of all peoples living here. And one of the few countries where the New Year is celebrated twice: by the Gregorian and Julian calendar. the second, of course, unofficially.
And also here Christmas is celebrated  twice: Catholics according to the Gregorian calendar, and Christians of the Orthodox rite and Greek Catholics according to the Julian calendar.

A young family with two children arranged for themselves a Christmas vacation, visiting the iconic cities of Ukraine, where a particular holiday is colorfully celebrated.
This is the city of Dnipro, where a large Jewish community lives and there is the Center "Menorah" - the largest Jewish community complex in the world.
Holiday of Hanukkah, which begins the winter holidays.

Lviv. Celebrating Christmas.

Kharkiv. New Year.

The village of Petrykivka, the Museum of Petrikov painting, Ukrainian ornamental folk painting.

The holiday of Malanka and Basil, which falls on the New Year by the Julian calendar.
On the eve of the feast, people go dressed like fricks, so that no evil can recognize them.
They come to the neighbors and wish them a good harvest and welfare in the new year.
And the hosts for it give them money, candy and other sweets. Sometimes they  pour a glass of homemade traditional Ukrainian strong alcoholic beverage, that can be done by every owner who respects himself ;-)
Bukovel, a ski resort located in the Carpathians.
Traditionally, all hotels are filled with tourists during the Christmas holidays.
Kiev, Dnipro river coast. Holiday of Baptism.
Christians of the Eastern rite have a tradition: bathing in icy water in this day.
In the ice on the river cut a hole in the form of a cross, and desperate daredevils take turns jumping in there. And what is surprising, they return alive to the shore!

As Jesus said: "Truly I say to you: if you have faith with a mustard seed ... and nothing will be impossible for you!"
Castles and monasteries of the West of Ukraine.
These are the most famous and restored, in which museums are  located now.
And this is only a small part of the cult and historical buildings that are exist there.
Many of them, unfortunately, are in an abandoned condition.
