Last September I received a request, by the owner of the well-known Pata Negra tapas restaurant franchise, to create a fully vectorized banner out of their trademark hand crafted front sign. The file could then be used for manifold purposes, the most prominent of which would be to print a long banner for placing over the construction scaffolding surrounding the building.

The only input I initially received was a scan of a water-colour sketch. In order to create the vector banner I essentially had to manually recreate everything, since tracing on Illustrator would ruin the nuanced water-colour gradients. Also, because the symmetry of the original wasn't entirely precise. You can see the two banners below, as well as the printed banner on the scaffolding.
