Red Cross’ Home Fire Campaign Saves Lives
For over three decades, Perry Mandera has served as president of The Custom Companies, Inc., a full-service transportation company based in Northlake, Illinois. Since 2004, Perry Mandera has also led his business’ charitable arm, Custom Cares Charities, which supports a number of humanitarian organizations, such as the American Red Cross.

In 2014 the American Red Cross launched its Home Fire Campaign to help reduce fire-related deaths and injuries in homes across the United States. Since launching the campaign, the Red Cross has partnered with over 4,400 organizations to install free smoke alarms, replace smoke alarm batteries, and help families develop fire-escape plans. To date, the Red Cross and its partners have installed 1 million smoke alarms for American families.

During its upcoming Sound the Alarm initiative, to be held between April 28 and May 13, 2018, the Red Cross will install an additional 100,000 free smoke alarms in more than 100 US cities. The organization will also host a series of fire safety events as part of Sound the Alarm. For more information about the Red Cross’ efforts to reduce fire-related disasters, visit www.redcross.org.
