Augmented Reality Moovit

This concept came after a couple years of riding public transport using the Moovit app. Moovit is a great app, I use it all the time. My favorite feature and the reason I keep choosing it to find the best directions over Google Maps is its real-time ETA for the buses. We all know that our rides do not always come on time, and see when they will actually be arriving is a huge time saver.

Using AR we can introduce new features that will greatly improve public transport.

Ever come to a bus stop, and there a more than a couple buses and bus stations. Have you had that annoying experience of running up and down looking for your station with it's tiny to read signs that you can only read up close or the bus numbers that are not always so clearly visible? What if your bus was highlighted to stand out, or your station had a little icon hovering over it making it easy to pick out of identical looking stands. Let's add to that a little information for the next leg of your trip and you had an easier time knowing where exactly to go to make your bus on time.

We have alternative routes with Waze, so why don't we have them when catching that bus? What if the bus behind yours also highlights and informs you that if you jump on that one you'll actually arrive earlier? Maybe even 10 minutes earlier.

So you've checked how long it'll take to walk to the bus stop, and you know that 1 minute after you get there your bus will arrive. So you put away your phone and confidently start walking because smart you know exactly how to get there even without directions. But there's no way to know that your bus got a little hasty and made that orange light it usually stops at. How would you know that it's now coming a minute before you'll get to the station? Even if Moovit sent you a notification a little ping sound could mean anything so you might not bother checking it, you have no way of knowing that it's urgent. It would be amazing if this notification actually came up in our field of view right where we were walking, there's no way we're gonna miss that, or the bus we are about to catch ;)
