In school, we got the assignment to do a TV ident inspired by a word, that was given to us by the teacher. I drew the word Aurora, and started thinking about ways to emulate the northern lights in a non-northern lights way ! 

This is what I came up with. 

In the beginning of the process, I found a lot of pictures of these kind of artsy mobiles, along with some pictures of Olafur Eliason's work. This became my source of inspiration, and I started sculpting heaps of different mobiles.

I experimented a lot with the lighting of the scene, which ended up consisting of three differently colored spotlights with differently colored shadows. Along with that, I went with a very strong depth of field to blend out the colors even more.
