The Monachyle Lantern
Pronounced - [mon - a - cle]

An interactive lantern taking cues from traditional lanterns and re-appropriated for the modern adventurer. Inspired by the winding single track lane leading to the secluded Scottish Monachyle Mhor. With two lochs either side of the small house and hills surrounding in all directions.
The never ending and narrow path that leads to Monachyle Mhor.
Influences
The Lantern takes cues from the traditional gas lantern and re-appropriated in a contemporary body. Iteration helping to find form, proportion and meaning.
From corrugated cardboard to bent aluminium.
The Monachyle lantern works by a simple lift of the handle (with the flat bar working as an active switch). Whilst the dimmer switch, at the crown of the body, increases the brightness, a small nod to the traditional gas lanterns.
