An action sequence excerpt from the episode "Arm & Hammer" I storyboarded on Insectibles in 2013.
Insectibles is an 11 min animated action adventure TV series.
Zak, an average boy, becomes not so average when he gets shrunk down to bug-sized one day in his Grandpa's backyard. He acquires a bionic arm, and meets his team of cyborg insects. Together, they patrol the yard as The Insectibles, and battle the forces of evil controlled by the resident mosquito villain, Adilla, and her dastardly army of hench roaches.

In an effort to give the episode's context to the short excerpt in the animatic, I took some dialogue from other parts of the video, so you might find the inflection of some voice-overs a little strange.

Arm & Hammer
Team Insectibles is on a time-tight mission to get a rare blue herb, but the local Dung-Rolling Festival is makes things a lot more challenging. With humongous dungballs on the loose and Zak's bionic arm malfunctioning, how will the Insectibles roll out of this one?
Below is a scrollable PDF of the thumbnails for this sequence. This was how I initially pitched the episode to the Director. I would lead him through the shots, the actions within it and the corresponding lines, and also the camera I intended to use.
Here's also where I came up with the action and events that will unfold in the story, plus all the little gags I threw in. As you can see, not all the ideas made it in as the episode had to fit into an 11min timeframe, and gags had to be thrown out for the story to take precedence. (It's an action adventure show after all!)
