visual interpretation

The Weaver Birds (Originally titled as "Burung-Burung Manyar") is an Indonesian literary novel published in 1981 by Indonesian Author, Y.B. Mangunwijaya.

This visual interpretation is one of my internship studio's project for "Seeing Words" : an exhibition at Frankfurt Book Fair 2016, in collaboration with ADGI (Indonesian Graphic Design Association) and other Indonesian-based graphic design studios.

The book is visualized through keywords from the novel as components to build the nest, which is the same way as the male weaver birds when they build up their nest using branches to attract the female. The process of "building a nest" using keywords is to visualized the life of the character, Setadewa (Teto) through ups and down from Indonesia's independence day until Indonesia's "New Order" era.
