Stimuli

The five photographs by Christine Godden

One of the five stimuli I choose is the series of five photographs by Christine

Joanie pregnant
In this image, the pregnant woman sat peacefully in a chair and the sunlight on her. I can see a scene that shows peace as well as hope on her face. At first sight, the woman’s facial expression catch people’s eyes. We can see her expectation and love for the coming children.

Joanie and baby Jade
In this photograph, we can see a mother with love holding her child. Despite the fact that she looked a bit tired on the face, she seemed happy and satisfied with her life with her child. This reminds me of my mom which makes me feel warm in the heart.

Untitled

At first sight of this picture, we should be confused that who was doing the unfinished work. We can see that it is an unfinished knit. The black and white of the photo makes me feel that she must be tired doing this. Maybe it was not the best work, but it should be the best gift for her family.

Untitled(2)
In this image we can see that it’s a woman with a single clothe on and both hands on her collarbone. From my perspective, I saw a yearn for freedom. She wanted to get rid of the control from work and the desire for living.

Untitled(3)
This picture we can think that there were 2 figures in the bed. We can consider them as a person in the quilt. It could mean that women were hidden.

In general, this stimulus shows mothers’ love to children and family. Godden’s series of photographs all presents feminine. All of them are black and white and the good use of the light and shadow which deeply show the life of women in the west. They were eagling for a free and good life.

Henry Deane Plaza
Henry Deane Plaza, which is located at the entrance of the path leads to the south concourse of the Central station, is a area that full of food and shops. In this way, there are lots of people hanging in this place for breakfast, lunch or snacks. Usually during the peak time people gather in the plaza or walk by. When it comes to night, the frequency of people passing drop through the night.

The design shows the function of multiple ways out and in. And the plaza is big enough to give a good environment to be capable of any time. To sum up, the plaza is not only convenient and easy to pass but also relaxing to stay which make it a terrific design.
