JADE CHARM
The Jade Charm is one of vigor; this charm emphasizes on life and it's longevity, the balance and rhythm of it, and contains a powerful healing essence. Additionally, this is also easier to sharpen in comparison to its siblings.
PHASE 1: CONCEPTUALIZATION
It was really begging for it; after a few research on its believed essence, we couldn't help but add a little Egyptian feel to it, dredging through the art of healing, life, and after. The golden framework brought a good synnergy with the crystal. Though the Jade crystal has a strict variety of hues, we settled for the most dominant tilt of green, to bring up a vivid contrast. The slope in thickness to an edgy taper enforces that notion that it is easily sloped.
PHASE 2: MODELING
One of the simplest meshes to create among the rest so far. It just consists of 2 meshes. We decided to round out the edge of the jade stone instead of the pointed one in the concept.
PHASE 3: TEXTURING AND RENDERING
The challenge was the jade stone this time. Although it has a bit of refraction, it's quite minimal and negligible. So it was more a matter of subsurface scattering for this one. We've added a highlight layer to give it some marbling. Then we added some cracks as well to age it a bit, with a dirt layer.
Overall, the render came out just right. With the right lighting setup, you can really see how the light scatters within the stone and it clearly shows the highlights and changes in color, as well as the cracks.
