Connection Denied Communications Campaign

Regional Communications Campaign, Amnesty International 2015
I was content and communications lead on a multi-stakeholder campaign "Connection Denied" to highlight the human costs of North Korea's restrictions on its citizens' ability to call the outside world.
Multi-channel campaign
Strong, consistent messaging is key in every good communications campaign, and the message of human connection denied as told through the real-life stories of North Koreans was carried across every touchpoint -- the campaign video I directed [below], across social media and digital assets, media messaging [see New York Times feature], through to an online game produced for the campaign [see bottom] .

Storytelling through a game
Exploring storytelling through an online game -- a first for Amnesty International -- I worked with a developer and designer on a tiny budget to translate the campaign message of families disconnected into an interactive animated world so audiences could "experience" the surveillance North Koreans face in attempting to place calls to the outside world. This game was embeddable through iFrames on most websites and mobile-optimised. The game is now offline, but the storyboards below give an idea of the game narrative.
