Visual Identity 'Minha Primeira Coleção'

Minha Primeira Coleção (which means “my first collection”) is a project related to Art - Experience - Affection. It is a Contemporary Art box for children with the aim to offer aesthetic experiences through a book with activities and with art reproductions of brazilian artists – works of Carolina Martinez, Danielle Carcav, Fabrício Lopez, Pedro Varela and Tatiana Blass. The project was published by Nankin Edições e Arte, sponsored by Itaú, through Lei Rouanet.

The publishing company also released a special and limited edition: besides the activities book, the box includes numbered engraving which were signed by the artists. Both editions have the same objective, which is to stimulate children – with parents – to collect Art as well as create their first art atelier. Minha Primeira Coleção focus in the construction of a bond between children and Art, developing their aesthetic view since a young age.

For the release day, an event was organized: with exhibition of the artists work and an art atelier for children experimentation. Minha Primeira Coleção eventually organizes other events to stimulate the children’s art practice.
The objective was to develop a vibrant logo with a lot of personality. It would works well in the different applications: book, website, t-shirt, stamps, exhibition panel and so on.
A lettering was developed, and so the result was an unique and original logotype. As Minha Primeira Coleção is related to children artistic expression, the logo carries this visual aspect with the colored splashes, applied in primary colors and in diverse materials - ink, pencil, crayon and pen.
The monochromatic logo enables children to interact with it. On the website, there is an activity where children can color the logo, customizing it in their own way. This is also possible with the logo stamp, where they can do it manually.
This interaction, makes the logotype more dynamic and playful in addition enables children to create a strong visual link with it.
An animated version was also developed, which is on the website and social media. This version enhances the aspect of rhythm and movement.

The book
The objective was to develop a visual language that stimulate children in their process of artistic experimentation.
The result is a book illustrated with nankin, combined with different textures and materials – which are proposed in the book activities. The typography also follow the handmade aesthetic doing a visual link to the nankin brush.
The visual language adopted is loose and artistic, stimulating the children view and arousing their interest in experimenting and expressing themselves with different materials and supports.
