When I was a child, I wanted to be a dog. And when I realized that was not possible (in this lifetime anyway), I decided I would become a writer instead.

After many years of hard-ish labor and a lot of meaningful mistakes, I was still not a professional writer. But if you are what you eat, then you are definitely what you say you are. So one day I woke up and started telling people that I was now a writer. And like a self-fulfilling prophecy, I became one. Although I was always technically writing: essays, sales emails, tinder messages, etc. I was doing what I do best, but for all the wrong reasons.

Now I write with purpose in every word. Whether I am capturing a moment in time or recording words of wisdom from those wiser than myself, my ultimate goal is always to inspire an emotion: joy, fear, disgust—anything.

I look around the world today, and I see a lot of downward heads. I just want them to feel something. Because feeling anything is better than feeling nothing at all. If my words help one person learn to live, love, and laugh again then I shall consider my work a great success.

And if the people of this world have only hatred left in their hearts, then I will make them hate their very best.

Always,
Kyle
